Madeleine Lemire
Born in Oka (Quebec, Canada) in 1940, Madeleine Lemire first obtained a bachelor's degree in teaching from the University of Sherbrooke before taking art history courses in Paris in 1965 at the Louvre School and painting lessons with Mr. Mauguin. Back in Montreal, she studied advertising art at the Montreal Academy of Arts. She taught drawing there for two years. Then there will be an internship at the Saidye-Bronfman Center, an engraving workshop with David Shapiro and painting workshops with Gerry Tondino and Ghitta Caiserman-Roth. Madeleine Lemire's paintings burst with color and movement and are exhibited mainly in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto.
